Character History:
Arek was embraced into the Tenebroso by Dante fifty years ago; his purpose was not to be a son or childe, but to be a warrior for the Tenebroso.  

Displaying notable skill in telepathy, specifically mind control, Arek came to the attention of Dante several years after his embrace during a battle with the werewolves.  He was one part of a three-team of kill-squad sent to either die at the claws of, or kill the roving werewolf packs in the city.  The men with him, including his commander, were green.  Newly embraced, new to their powers, they were a suicide squad, meant to distract and die.  His men were frightened, prepared to run.
Arek unknowingly reacted telepathically; he took control of all the minds of his squad, holding them to the fight, giving Dante the time he needed to bring the rest of his army into position.  Two of Arek's squad died, and Arek was looked at with new, calculating eyes when it came to light what he'd done.

There are very few who manage to claw out of the ranks of Tenebroso cannon fodder, even fewer who manage to do so without being slaughtered by the Blackguards.  Along with Arek, three others ascended the rickety ladder of power from Tenebroso army drones to commanders, and of those four only Arek ascended to hold the title of Blackguard.  Trained personally by Dante, he was encouraged to use his telepathy, but as yet, he has only been able to completely control humans and newly turned fledglings.

He became close with Lisette during a lull in battles at which point he was freed to interact with the rest of the Clan and, much to the delight of the Blackguards, his smart-ass side emerged.  These nights, if there was anyone who could call themselves Lisette's second, it's Arek.
