Personal History:
Unlike some of the Coven, Teller's family are truly blood born Bernauer Warlock and Witches through his Father and Grandfather before him. As a child of eight he developed his active power of pyrokinesis and demonstrated incredible skill ... after almost burning his eyebrows off. The disappointment on his Father, Bathold's, face drove him to become better and as he was entering his teens, he had surpassed his Father in skill and abilities.  This of course did not sit well with the cruel patriarch of his Family.  Teller and his siblings were never good enough in their Father's eyes and the fact that Tell had surpassed his mastery of his powers only made him a target.

Competitive due mostly to his upbringing, Tell and his siblings constantly fought, trying to one-up each other and spurred on by their Father.  Tell was also restless. The combination of these traits made for a man constantly looking for fights and though he had risen high within his Coven, he still sought to prove himself. When the Believers found out about their Coven and began the first waves of their attacks, Tell placed himself on the front line alongside his friend, Morgan.

The two fought side-by-side for months until, abruptly, they were forced to face each other for leadership of the Coven. The Believers were burning them out and their High Priestess had bowed out of leadership, leading many to label her a coward - including Tell himself.

The backlash sought some in the Coven to push for a High Priest to lead them. In the end it was down to Teller and Morgan, two of the most powerful Maesters in the entire coven but it was the manifestation of Morgan's second active power that lost him the final battle.

Morgan led them from Salem to New Orleans, a move that he vehemently disagreed with. Teller would have kept the Coven in Salem to fight, quite possibly to the death.
