Personal History:
Jaq Mal Sombre is an intimidating man at 6'5" and about 250lbs with long black hair and a ghastly pale complexion. He is almost always seen wearing long cloaks or long overcoats and black gloves.

Jaq Mal Sombre is one of the Firsts. His lineage runs parallel to that of Vasille. That is, of course, because Jaq Mal Sombre is Vasille's brother. Older or Younger, the rumor is by minutes and neither would tell you who is the oldest, but they both have been known to claim it.

Jaq and his brother Vasille were brothers first and foremost, and they fought like brothers. Two powerful vampires with two very different ideas of how vampire society should evolve.  Vasille saught to do it by creating his own armies.  Jaq preferred to manipulate human armies usually as the King’s advisors.  This lead to one of the bloodiest battles known to man and demon. The rival brothers battled it out on a field of death and darkness. Neither was able to claim victory and in the final moments of battle the two brothers clashed head on in physical combat. Vasille tried to mind-rape Jaq, and Jaq began to crush his brother in an insurmountable force of darkness. Neither would give in and as the days wore on, the brothers grew tired.

Eventually, they called a truce to their battle. An agreement was reached. The brothers would separate their ties. Vasille would go on to create the world renown Tenebroso Dynasty, and Jaq would go on to create his small clan of shadow manipulators. Jaq kept his clan small and carefully hidden. Their clan secrets were held tightly. Rumors abounded about what the Mal Sombre could do with darkness, but Jaq never confirmed one way or the other.

In the year 500AD, Jaq chose a childe. His name was Maximus Smith. Jaq schooled this new vampire in the ways of the Mal Sombre. Honor and loyalty above all else. After another 500 years, Jaq turned Maximus loose to run the Indianapolis haven and to help with clan politics, decisions, and advancement.

Slowly, the clan began to grow. The Mal Sombre clan began to grow in property, allies, and influence. The Mal Sombre cared little for money, but they bought all of the land and huge estates that they could manage. This gave them considerable influence in France, England, and Romania.

The years passed slowly for Jaq, eventually, he ran into a woman named Talyn Dark. She was an Assassin with the ear of the Prince. Jaq began for form a plan at that time. The plan was one of reunification between his clan and his brother's clan. Talyn was to help in this goal. She was also to become the assassin to the Mal Sombre.

More years went by until 1927. It was in 1927, that Jaq's childe Maximus Smith fell in love with a young human who went by the name Shadow. For months Jaq heard rumors about his childe and this woman. He had dismissed the idea since all childer had to be approved by Jaq, but on a trip to Indianapolis he discovered that Maximus had indeed embraced a very skinny red head.

Jaq immediately took this childe in to his custody for the next few years. He taught her the ways of the Mal Sombre and their code of honor. Unfortunately, Jaq didn't have the time to continue to train her and eventually had to send to her back to Maximus. That was when the hell really broke loose for the Mal Sombre. Jaq kept hearing whispers that Shadow was being tortured and beaten by Maximus and not allowed to learn her heritage.

In a final desperate act, Jaq began plotting with Vasille to reunify the clans. It took a long time.  First they had to come to terms with themselves and the fact that they were brothers.  Eventually, they came to an agreement.  They no longer hated each other.  The centuries had dulled old wounds.

In the final nights, Jaq went to the Prague to meet with Vasille and seal the reunification. While they were in the Prague , they were attacked and driven into the sewers. Flame throwers were used. Jag fought off the flames with his well mastered shadow manipulation. He was able to hold the deadly fire off long enough to allow Vasille to get to a safe location, but Jaq fell where he was and was singed beyond recognition, beyond life . . but not dead as assumed. Jaq laid in the sewers for months in a deep mortally wounded sleep. His body slowly healed through the time. Eventually he awoke and began feeding on rats and other sewer dwelling creatures. When his strength returns . . . he has vowed to make an appearance in New Orleans . The outcome . . no one knows . . not even Jaq himself.

Jaq Mal Sombre has only changed his name once and is known to go by the Alias of Jaq Dark. Though, his name is as timeless as the centuries he has passed through, but very few recordings exist and those that do reside his French haven, or in a very few family timelines sitting in his libraries. Jaq has guarded his privacy and his lineage with his life. The only things known about the Mal Sombre are that they are a small clan of shadow manipulators with no trained telepathy what-so-ever. They communicate with each other primarily through darkness and blood bonds.

It is rumored that the Mal Sombre powers come directly from Hell and the Abyss itself. The Mal Sombre cannot handle bright lights or sunlight. Even the dimmest of direct sunlight causes them tremendous physical pain.
