Giovanni Vitali grew up in the 1970's and 1980's in Chicago, born in 1953. He came from a large Italian family with fifteen kids. His Mother worked as a housekeeper and part time at a dry cleaners to make ends meet. His Father was a lowlife drunk, boozing away his Mother's money.
Giovanni watched his mother slave away to give them clothing and food, the bare necessities of life while getting raped and beaten by his father. At the age of 14, Giovanni joined a well -known Chicago gang. Dealing drugs - coke, that was popular at the time - along with speed, he began to build his own fortune of filthy money, giving his mother the occasional $20 or $50 that he said he got from helping friends.

At 18 he had stashed away nearly 20,000 dollars. Ten thousand of it he gave to his mother. Then he proceeded to drain the hydraulic fluid in his father's brake lines. He told his mother not to drive the car that day and then took his remaining money and left town. His father died in a car crash later that day. The same day, Giovanni was on his way to New York to start his new life of drug running, gambling, and racketeering.
By the age of 23, he had made himself a name in New York as well as Chicago. Nicknamed "The Butcher", he was known for his brutal public slayings. Anyone who wasn't with him was against him and on the 'list'.

By 25, he met the woman that would be his soul mate - Carlotta. They were perfect together. By the end of their third month together, they were committing hits, finishing each other's sentences and telling each other what they were thinking before it was said. It wasn't unusual to hear the dual pops of the .357 mags that each of them carried. And when they were together...nothing and no one else mattered. No one else existed.
They became the most feared newly organized crime family in both New York and Chicago, and they were hell bent on branching out. The purchase of a summer home in New Orleans gave them the base they would need to move into that town.

By the year 2000 they had been together for 26 years, married 23 of it, with a 20 year old set of twins; Julian and Franco. They had a nanny that had been with them since the boys were one year old. The woman raised the boys to be everything their parents wanted them to be. Giovanni and his wife Carlotta ran the business. To them, the business was family and family the business.

Five years later saw the Vitali's firmly entrenched in New York and beginning to get a firm hold in New Orleans. They're annual income was well over 10 million a year from their illegal activites and they lived the utmost in lavish lifestyles...still moving abut as if they weren't married and didn't have the twins. But anyone who knew them knew that family was everything.

Blood is thicker than water and twice as deep.
