Character History:
Born into the Welsh Bardic royal house (that has fully ruled the island country of Wales from behind the scenes a few hundred years now), Candace knew both a relatively 'normal' childhood...as well as one not deemed quite so 'normal'. Her parents were both mastered Bards and the last married royal couple to sit the throne before their horrific deaths at the hands of an ancient vampire that had went by the name of Gristal.

Bernard (Candace's father) had been a member of the Believer Society for many years, keeping his Bardic abilities a desperately hidden secret from not just them, but also from the rest of the 'mundane' population as well. The entities Bernard fought against though knew his secret, and understood the greater danger that the Bards in general could bring about to their dark ranks if things got too unbalanced.

However, TYPICALLY, the Bards had generally left everyone alone to go about their normal business. They acted as court liaisons, mediators, ambassadors, teachers, musicians, historians, healers, guardians to the young...and if necessary, they were not the least bit shy about joining into a fray for the right reasons.

Many a court in the distant past had even employed the Bards as very capable spies in the espionage arenas. Though more than one ruler also discovered the down side to that as well...for no Bard would willing betray another Bard, nor would a Bard betray or deliberately assassinate an individual who had genuinely earned that Bard's trust, friendship and loyalty. This though also applied to the ruler who employed said Bard...treated fairly, with respect and honesty it was HIGHLY unlikely that said ruler would ever have to fear a Bard turning on them.

Many of the viler ones of the night breeds (and humans alike), conveniently 'forgetting' that the Bards in actuality had always maintained a unique 'Balance' amongst all sides. Only when the 'Balance' went seriously awry, did the Bards choose a side to stand on, or against...They chose to ignore that a Bard did not judge an entire group on a single individual's actions. Nor did they automatically condemn an individual for a group's actions.

Gristal, even though knowing fully of the ancient lore and past, had been corrupted beyond reason to the point he viewed even his fellow vampires as a serious and deadly threat against his insatiable hunger and desire for power. Anything in his way, Gristal destroyed with pure unholy evil vengeance. When the last of the Bards realized the true horrors that Gristal was enacting, they arose and stood against him, denying him what he so desired. Moreover, deny him they did; with the same lethal vengeance that Gristal was renowned!

Gristal vowed too completely annihilate the last Bardic bloodline...no matter at what cost! And for the next number of centuries, the Grenadier line stood between Gristal and all the darkness he desired to unleash on humankind, vampire and werewolf alike. For Gristal sought total domination of all factions.

Gristal succeeded in almost completely annihilating the Bards from the face of the Earth...managing to pit their dwindling number of allies remaining against the royal family...in the end leaving just Bernard, his wife and their young daughter (Candace).

Things changed drastically for Bernard though once his daughter Candace had been born. A small group of 5 European based Believers that knew of Bernard's secret of being a Bard, left the Believers with him to protect the only living heir left to the Black Rose throne. Of those five Ex-Believers, only one would survive in the years to come...

Bernard and his queen (Candace's mother), were eventually brutally murdered by Gristal and the vampire's minions...leaving their daughter Candace at the age of just 15, to assume the Black Rose throne.

Candace took up the throne and all the duties that such entailed. However, the young princess did not let the affairs of state and countries dominate her life 100%. At 17, she and a small group of friends (Erin, Jason, Cerridwan and Candace's cousin Terry), formed the Celtic rock band 'Spiral Dance'. Via the media of modern available to them all, Candace her band cut CD after CD. Each imbued with the 'Bardic gift' of legend-lore that would reach deep into the archetypes of anyone that listened...

The stories, ballads and such now could reach MILLIONS in no time at all...and the band hit the spotlight...remaining there to this day even a number of years later. Their concerts were sell-outs, often standing room only...and the young Bard along with her companions kept alive in the hearts of many what Gristal and those such as he desired with all their unholy beings to destroy forever.

For Bards, through their stories, songs and ballads...could offer hope where all seemed lost and dismal. They could rally troops, groups of normal people, and even reach out with ease to many of the Night's Children who had not fully succumbed to the 'Beast'. 'The Beast' as the Bards fully understood was far stronger in some creatures than in others...but 'The Beast', no matter what, resided in ALL creatures of sentience. Just as 'evil' resided in all beings though, so did a thread of ‘light’. Which path an individual took was dependant upon a multitude of things...

For good or ill, it would always boil down to 'choice'.

Again, this was a part of the 'Natural Balance' the Bards knew about, and fully accepted. For they all knew from personal experience, that even the gentlest of pure souls could be perfectly capable of some of the most horrendous of deeds and acts of atrocity…it all boiled down to the situation at hand, and what the individual chose to do...or not do...

They preferred peace to war, though the Bards understood perfectly well that to get or maintain peace...often war, battle or other such fighting was inevitable. Peace, as with everything else in life, came at a cost and often a tremendously heavy one at that.

Candace had ventured to New Orleans years ago, not for just a major concert...but to have a final showdown with the vampire Gristal...she was successful, but the costs had been horrible, painful and had left a stark bleakness upon the young Bard Candace's very spirit and soul. Some that had started as possible allies had instead become possible enemies or adversaries. Good friends had died in battle. A few new friends though she had made, remained as such...for which Candace was eternally grateful.

The bitterest loss though was in knowing she would have to leave behind the only man she had ever come to love...the Hunter Sean. However, duties of a royal once again struck deep and harshly upon the Bard. Forcing her to return to her homelands for an unknown of duration...forcing her to leave behind a city in turmoil, and people she had come to care very deeply for.

Now...a number of years later, Candace once again, finds herself in the city of New Orleans. With her is young Donald Writt of pure Believer blood, but raised from infancy by the royal bloodline of Welsh Bards. Candace knows young Donald's new life destiny starts in New Orleans, but even she has no idea where his path will lead him on in the City of the Dead.

There are other reasons the Bard has also returned to New Orleans...but what those reasons are fully she has to date kept strictly to herself. As the last Bard alive of the royal line, Candace now faces the stark bitter reality of having to find a man strong enough of mind, body and spirit to stand with her...and produce a long awaited and desperately need of heir to the Black Rose throne and its hidden sister realm.

In her late teens, Yelena was lured away from her home in a Hutterer colony by Piers Tenebroso for a passionate, lust clouded affair in the fields. When he brought her amongst the men of his clan, she inspired no shortage of lust, but her youth drew another to her, a woman.

Yelena was embraced into the Clan by a then childless Tenebroso, Cecilia, and adopted as a daughter to their noble bloodline. Coming from the strict upbringing she'd had as a human, she has never once looked back.

Flirtatious, lovely, and calculating would be words that would describe Yelena, and her beauty is simply indescribable, forever stuck in the visage of a twenty-one year old. She has pledged to fill her bed with as many men and women as possible before the inevitable urge to Bond comes upon her. Despite that she is not a useless little trinket or an embarrassment. She is the soul of discretion, a proclamation she'll whisper in your ear while driving you out of your mind.

Sasha Tenebroso

Embraced by an ancient Tenebroso in the early parts of the sixteenth century, Sasha came to the notice of the royals of the Tenebroso court for her brutal slayings of victims, a trail of which she left across the continents.
Her glee for killing brought her directly into the path of the Queen of the Tenebroso, Carolina, and over a bath of blood in memory of the Countess Bathory, the two bonded as eternal soul-less sisters. They exchanged blood and created a connection deeper than distance and, possibly, death.

For years, Sasha kept to a pattern of random, public killings and going into years long slumbers of which she calls her 'beauty sleep' though nothing save the direct light of the sun could errode her immortal skin.

During one of her waking periods, around the 1800's, she immediately reunited with Caro. A playful reunion and sultry romp turned into a killing spree that sent London authorities straight to the gilded doors of the red house district where Sasha and Carolina had taken to using as a Haven.
Both were forced into silent hiding once more, Sasha returning to her native Russia and, in 1890 settling with a particularly intoxicating human man. He was massacred in the Palace Square in 1905 by the police department, along with hundreds of other peasants protesting the czar of Russia, a memorable event that became known as Bloody Sunday, though some attribute the resulting blood spilled giving the day its name to be at the hands of Sasha in her grief.

She got over it in time for the 1920's to roll around and, back in the States, snipped her hair off, donned golden flapper dresses and haunted the nightclubs in the heart of Tenebroso territory, New Orleans, with Carolina at her side.

Sasha now makes time and money as a glorified loan shark - she loves the thrill of a shakedown - and has moved from Russia once more to settle in San Francisco after hearing that most of her Family had been killed in the werewolf attacks.
Sasha is not sadistic or cruel, twisted or mad. She is a Vampire, an undead creature without a soul. And she makes no apologies for it, rather, she enjoys the Holy Hell out of it.

On the outside, Nerise seems every bit a bitter shell of a woman with little warmth left, and even less of an opportunity to let anyone touch her as of yet. Powerful, with magnificent flesh shaping abilities, Nerise is a Tenebroso, noble and proud by birthright. A particular beauty of her kind, she is as more pureblooded than most, coming from one of the first vampires to walk the Earth, Vasille Tenebroso.
With fiery red hair and a temper to match, she enchanted her own kind and other clans as well. Her voice was as hypnotic as her presence and Tenebroso men vie for her affections. When, finally, she found a Tenebroso male to Bond with, Nerise thought she had at last found happiness instead of just happy lust and passion.

That was not to be her path, however. Her Bonded was slaughtered and she, turned into a widow. For years it was touch and go as she tried to reconcile herself to an eternity without her soul intact.

She used human retainers to open her club, After Dark, from her home in Romania. Her Bonded's strong presence in the castle she lived in finally drove her from it and into New Orleans quietly. There she settled into enchanting audiences with her haunting melodies. She considers it an ironic and cruel twist of fate.

Embraced by Amelia Tenebroso (former Bonded of the Elder - RIP) and Blood Bound to Cade Tenebroso as a result, Constantine has since been viewed as a childe of the Elder, though an absent one as he made his home in Spain for most of his eternity on account of it being his Bonded's - Rayen's, birthplace.
Nicknamed the 'Mad Dog' by his Family, Constantine was Cade's and Amelia's personal loose cannon during their golden years. He went against their enemies, within and without of the Dynasty while enjoying their full protection while he committed his deeds. Though one of their youngest sons, he often played the role of elder brother to his sisters when Marek and Giselle were being groomed.

He met and Bonded with Rayen while she was on business in France and, seeing an opportunity for power, relocated to Spain against the wishes of his Sires with her. It was in Spain that he learned of Amelia's death. He briefly returned, but both he and Cade agreed his work in Spain was too important to jeopardize.

Constantine has become one of the Dynasty most dangerous killers, hiding behind baby blue eyes and a captivating smile. He is a businessman, owning coffee exports around the world, his primary source of currency; he is connected in Tenebroso politics around the world.
